Badgley Mischka: American Glamour (Rizzoli), a lavish and beautiful book, is the first to celebrate the designs of duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka, the authorities on the evening dress. After meeting at Parsons School of Design in New York and embarking on separate apprenticeships at major fashion houses, Mark Badgley and James Mischka joined forces to form Badgley Mischka in 1988. Badgley Mischka has captivated both the fashion press and prominent retailers around the world with a sophisticated style that caters to a modern couture customer of all ages, as evident in their list of clients which include Madonna, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Sharon Stone, Jennifer Garner, Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, Taylor Swift, Sarah Jessica Parker and Carrie Underwood. BADGLEY MISCHKA: AMERICAN GLAMOUR is a celebration of the duo’s success over the last twenty-five years, on—and off—the red carpet.

Badgley Mischka follows in the great haute-couture tradition of legendary fashion houses such as Christian Dior and Adrian, who continue to inspire them season after season. Informed by a streamlined 1940s silhouette often employing exquisite beading, their signature muted palette of color—blush, misty grey, lavender, bisque, champagne and platinum—are selected to highlight a woman’s complexion and evoke the memory of Hollywood’s golden age. 

Each page showcase the iconic silhouettes—slinky beaded dresses, fishtail and ball gowns, and cocktail dresses—making BADGLEY MISCHKA: AMERICAN GLAMOUR a celebration of the evening dress in all its shimmering glory, conveyed by top photographers including Ruven Afanador, Ellen von Unwerth, Walter Chin, Patrick McMullan, and Annie Leibovitz, among others.
